Falkirk v Hibs 17s

Our Secret Reporter Reporting ...

Falkirk FC v Hibernian 17s
After a mix up with bookings at Sunnyside, we’re in debt to the staff at Westfield who at short notice let us use both their pitch and their changing facilities.
The change of venue meant a later kick off and reduced playing time 35min. each way.
With only a point separating them it was a real 6 pointer and right from the start it was easy to see this was going to be a cracker.
The Hibee keeper didn’t have a chance to warm up before Nic tested her with a strong header from a Rachie cross. Hibs went close from a corner with Lauren clearing the danger. Hibs had the ball in the net but it was clearly offside. The defence were playing out their skin, with a special mention to Jillian whose
performance as sweeper once again was top class. She still seems to be carrying an injury and at times is playing through the pain barrier, another visit to the physio?
Nicole was brought down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. To everybody’s surprise the keeper parried and gathered before Nic could get to the rebound.

Susie was beaten by the keeper when Nic put over a long hanging cross and shortly after headed just wide from a corner. Linzi fired in a powerful shot  which once again was matched by the keeper.
The play range from end to end, at one time the Hibernian players shouted goal when a Rebecca clearance came of the underside of the bar but the Referee said no. Phew!

As a very exciting first half drew to a close Rachie saw her shot coming back of the bar, surely part 2 would bring better rewards.
Half Time 0 – 0

Falkirk had a brief flurry around the goalmouth before Hibs started to turn the screw. Gillian put in a last ditch tackle in the box which stopped a great scoring chance for the away team.
Hibs had 2 corners in quick succession before Nic had a neat flick deflected wide before we went on a run of 4 corners, we couldn’t make any of them count. Robyn fired a shot well wide from a Linzi pass. All these chances missed, we were about to pay the price.
A deflected clearance fell to the Hibs No.15 who made no mistake powering her shot home from the edge of the box. 1 – 0.
Gaining confidence the girls in green piled on the pressure but they weren’t getting through again.
Rachie fired just over from a Nic pass quickly followed by Nic hitting the post.. Another 2 corners followed but to no avail. As the game drew to a finish Nic fired a free past and Hibs hit the bar from a
distance.
All over beaten 1 -0 but close to the best display of the season. One of the best games I’ve seen for a long time, what an advert for Ladies
Football.
