Boroughmuir FC v Falkirk Ladies
Sunday 3rd April 2011
'Our Secret Reporter Reporting .....'
Only eleven players, Rachie and Emma on holiday, Gillian on crutches with broken bones in her foot, our sweepers got that niggling thigh strain and our top scorers got a broken toe which leaves the coach with no option but to play Rebecca in what must feel like a regular outfield position.
The game started with Falkirk playing into the wind. Straight away Boroughmuir were on the back foot with shots from Lauren, Lyndsay and Laura all going past. Corners from both sides ended up with the ball firmly in the opposition keeper’s arms.
The game got a bit tied up in midfield with both teams giving as good as they got. A good shot from the Muir’s number 9 went narrowly past.
This seemed like the wake up call the Bairns needed and they begun to turn the screw. A Lyndsay shot taken by the keeper was closely followed by Susie putting one narrowly over and Linzi’s neat little flick going just past. Pressure had to tell and it was Nicki with a mazy run and a cool shot who made
it 1-0.
The pressure was relentless and after Susie had another near miss Laura picked up a Nicki pass and tucked it away no problem. 2-0 The race was on between Robyn and the keeper, with the latter just getting there first. A driving run from Lyndsay a great pass to Nicki, how she missed we’ll never know.
Within minutes everyone had forgot the miss as she took a pass from Laura and drilled it home.3-0
Linzi to Lauren (next time have a crack) to Nicki closed down unlucky. Shots from Robyn and Laura were taken easily by the keeper, she just couldn’t get to the next Laura shot 4-0. Almost right away Susie won the ball for Nicki who made it 5-0. Half time
Falkirk started the 2nd half without Linzi who was recovering from an earlier knock. Down to 10 it proved a lot harder and chances were fewer. A great save stopped Lyndsay making it six after another driving run. A corner from Nicki saw Rebecca blast it over the bar. Jillian, Sara and Rebecca are hardly putting a foot wrong at the back and their not having as easy a time of it as the score suggests. Susie shoots into the keepers arms and then over the bar, at last the goalie can’t keep it out GOAL. 6-0.
Jillian comes to a fellow asthma suffers aid when she has an attack on the field. Well done Jillian.
Lyndsay puts one into the side netting before Susie scores again. 7-0 A good save from the Falkirk number 1 and a long kick sees the ball once again in the Boroughmuir box with Nicki having a shot cleared and a header from a Linzi cross going just past. After Linzi put a decent effort over the bar and Nicki just past Laura gets her third to make it 8-0.
The clock is ticking and Boroughmuir still won’t lie down, a tremendous shot comes back of the bar, they really deserve something from this game. Linzi’s final effort goes into the side netting, what a difference she’s made since she came back on. The last play saw Nicky make it four for her and nine for the Ladies.
A great effort from everyone, with no game next week it’s time to kick of your boots put on your high heels and paint the town red.
