Reds Finish Season - Finally!
(November 14, 2009)
The Under-15 'Red' team finally played their last game of the 2009 season today after they travelled to Dumbarton to face Drumchapel Amatuers. Understrength due to last minute injuries and illness the girls played with only 9 and in horrific weather conditions.
Before the game the girls had decided to have fun during the game as they realised that the odds were against them. The game ended up more like a mud-bath rather than a football match and the Falkirk girls did their best but Drumchapels superior numbers showed through and they started to score goals.
By half-way through the second half it became difficult to tell the teams apart due to all players being covered in mud! At this time the Falkirk goalkeeper Lorraine Snaddon and defenders Aimee Stubberfield and Jillian Leiper decided to play as forwards and by the end of the game Falkirk had scored 3 goals, one of them curtesy of GK Lorraine! Striker Katie Allan also has two very close shots, one was tipped onto the upright and the other was finished after a good save from the Drumchapel GK.
The game ended 12-3 to the home side after which the Falkirk girls made sure coaches Alison and Annmarie enjoyed the mud too!
