Blues grind out the three points

(June 24, 2009)

Drumchapel v Falkirk LFC Blue

Thursday 28th May 2009

Granddad Roy reports:

Drumchapel kicked off this match and both teams never really got into any rhythm until a good 25 mins into the half! Blues getting more of the ball but weren’t doing much with it. Very poor first half from both teams, Blues squandered four or five good chances.  The highlight of first half was a good long ball from Sian which Susie ran onto perfectly and blasted her shot into net giving keeper no chance.

Half Time: Drumchapel 0 v 1 Falkirk LFC Blue

Second half much the same as first half from both teams, the marshy pitch was preventing the Blues from playing their usual passing style.  However despite this the Blues were much the stronger team.  A piece of slack defending gave the Drumchapel striker too much time on the ball and she sent a speculative lob towards goal, the keeper failed to react quickly enough and the ball found the back of the net 1-1. This woke the Blues up and they started to fight for the 3 points, a great free kick from Aimee Thomson broke to Amanda on the edge of the box and she produced the perfect postage stamp strike high into the top corner to win the game! A fantastic strike to make it 1-2.

Full Time: Drumchapel 1 v 2 Falkirk LFC Blue

Very poor game from both teams expected better maybe to much pressure on some of the girls because of their  exams in the past two weeks.

But good three points for Blues J
