Great Start for the Blue Team (February 05, 2009)

Falkirk Ladies U15 Blue Team V Falkirk Ladies U17s

Nailor Road

Saturday 31st Jan

10.15 am Kick Off

Conditions: Dry and Sunny

The game kicked off with both teams taking a little time to settle as would be expected in the first friendly of the season. Both teams were playing good football and their commitment to the game was impressive.  The Blues were not overawed with their older opposition if anything adapted quicker and played some good passing football. In the 12th min some good forward play forced a corner for the Blues.  Amanda sent a driven low cross into the goalmouth and the ball deflected of an unlucky defender and into net 1-0 Blues.
There was lots of good end to end football from both teams with both defences playing well, a special mention must go to Lindsay Hopper of the Blue team whos man marking on the pacey 17s striker limited her impact on the game.  Both teams had two or three good chances but the Blues defence was very solid.
The girls hard work in training was paying off with some excellent defending then the composure to pass the ball into midfied.  All the girls work rate was superb with Susie working exceptionally hard on her own at times up front with Shelby giving good support.

Half Time: Falkirk U15s Blue 1 – 0 Falkirk U17s

The second half was evenly matched with both teams demonstrating hard but fair tackling, as the game progressed the Blues were gaining in confidence with some really good football and they were really taking the game to the 17s.
In the 50th min after another good corner from Amanda the ball broke to  Kayleigh and with great composure she picked her spot and scored a great goal low and hard into the corner of the net 2-0.
The 17s started pushing for a hold on the game and won a few corners but Blues were defending with great grit and determination.  Shelby on a super break ran onto ball she spotted Kimbo running out and struck the ball towards goal, however Kimbo somehow got her fingertip to ball and agonisingly trickled past the post for a corner. But in the 69th min another good attacking move from the Blues saw the ball brake to the edge of the box straight to new signing Kirsten Moodie and from the left handside of penalty area she connected with the ball perfectly she almost uprooted the net with a super strike 3-0. From the centre the 17s again attacked and won a corner the ball was cleared straight to Emma B who chipped the ball over everyone straight into top of the goal - super goal  3-1.

Full Time: Falkirk U15s Blue 3 – 1 Falkirk U17s

Very good game well played from both teams and a well deserved win for the Blues.

Team:  Rebecca Cheape, (Angela McLuckie,), Corri Cairns, Lyndsey Hopper, Sian Meaney, Aimee Thomson, Linzi Hunter, (Kirsten Moody), Amanda Tweedie, Shelby Carney, Kayleigh McCann, Susie Malloy, Nicole McPhee.

Well done to all the team great team performance everyone with everyone working for each other and communication was good.  A special mention must go to the two new signings; Corri Cairns, who had a solid game in her first start for the Blues at right back and Kirsten Moody who battled hard in midfield and scored a great goal.

The girls determination, effort and commitment today were second to none and things are looking bright for the season ahead.

Well done to the 17s, a mention must go to Emma B, Tash, Hannah and Kimbo who all worked very hard today in defence.
