Blues Slump Continues
(December 30, 2008)
Saturday 13th December
Falkirk Blues v Clyde Cosmos
Nailor Road, Kick Off 10:00am
It was a big ask of the Blue team to put the previous nights disappointment behind them and compete against a strong Clyde team. However the blues started of well and had a couple of chances in first half. The referee was insistant in having a stop – start game and some of the decisions were questioned by both sets of coaches. After a ricochet in the middle of the park the ball went through to the Falkirk goalkeeper who pick the ball up. The referee deemed this to be a pass back and awarded a free kick, the Clyde captain hit a superb strike from the lay off high into the net 0 – 1. Falkirk were shocked by this and seemed to be letting the disappointing decisions get to them. A weak clearance from the defense fell to a cosmos player who volleyed the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net 0 – 2.
Half Time: Falkirk Blue 0 v 2 Clyde Cosmos
In the second half the blues tried almost too hard and nothing seemed to be going right for them. Clyde hit us on the break and soon added to their lead with another three quick fire goals 0 – 5. Falkirk did manage to pull a goal back with a well taken spot kick from Sian to make the final scoreline 1 – 5. The Clyde captain was dismissed as a result of her reaction to the penalty.
Full Time: Falkirk Blue 1 v 5 Clyde Cosmos
Falkirk and Clyde have always had good competitive close games and with a bit of stronger refereeing this would have been one of these games. Unfortunately for the Blues this was not to be.
