Another 3 Points for the Blues

(November 03, 2008)

Falkirk Blue v Falkirk Red

Sat 1st November, Nailer Road, 10am kick off.

In the first 10 minutes of the game the Red Team were the more attacking minded, the Blue Team took a very long time to settle down but never really got going until about the 12th min when Shelby got the first shot at goal, unfortunately the ball bobbled in front of her and her resulting shot was well high of the target.  In the 14th min Nicole had good run down the wing cut in a very good shot which was well parried by goalkeeper Megan ran onto the lose ball and side footed the ball home from a tight angle - nice goal 1- 0.  The football on display was not up to the usual high standards from the blues and at times was poor, this could be down to the lack of games played recently due to the bad weather.  In the 19th min Amanda hit a speculate shot at goal and unfortunately the goalkeeper let it slip and trundle over the line 2-0 .  In the 22nd min a good cross from Lyndsay to Megan who then sent a lovely cross into goal mouth, a good turn from Robyn Graham gave her an extra yard of space and she struck the ball well for goal number 3.   26min Kayleigh found herself with a surprising amount of time in front of goal and she struck the ball through a ruck of players into the bottom corner of thenet 4-0.  Red Team tried really hard to get back into the game but they just could not make any headway Blues defence delt well with any pressure and cleared their area very well. 28th min Nicole stole the ball from reds defender then very neatly slotted the ball into net super goal. 5-0. 30th min Nicole made another great run down the wing sent over a great ball to Kayleigh who if anything struck the ball too well and it went well high of the target. Then in the 33rd min Shelby made up for her early miss by scoring a super goal Lyndsey Hopper sent through a  defence splitting pass and Shelby raced through on goal and calmly slotted the ball past the on-rushing goal keeper into the net 6-0.

Half Time: Falkirk Blue 6 – 0 Falkirk Red

Falkirk Red came out fighting in the second half and only some quick thinking from the defence prevented a clear cut chance. In the 38th min the Blues won a corner, another super delivery from Amanda was met with a lovely header from Nicole 7-0. In the 46th min of the game the blues showed why they are joint top of the league with a superb passage of play, the ball was worked from defence and saw the blues make almost 20 passes before the ball was crossed into the Reds goalmouth and once again Kayleigh struck the ball well through a ruck of players into the bottom corner of the net 8-0.  49th min the pressure was now beginning to tell on the Red team Blues were really starting to control the game, Robyn Knox sent a lofted pass from defence straight to Nicole who showed terrific control and scored the goal of the match 9-0. 51st min again the blue team showed how they can play, they were allowed to pass the ball about Sian passed to Robyn Knox who then sent another great ball over the top to Susie who turned and scored a cracker 10-0. 60th min Susie ran onto a nice through ball from Amanda and stayed very composed to slot the ball into the corner of the net 11-0.  63rd min Susie completed her hat-trick again staying composed and finding the corner of the net from another good pass from Amanda 12-0.

Congratulations must go to the Red Team who tried hard throughout and showed a great fighting spirit.  They really made it hard for the blues at times.

This was definitely not one of the Blue teams better performances and they only showed flashes of the standard of football that is now expected of them, however, something can be taken from the fact that we still scored twelve goals in a game in which we performed below par.

Blue Team: Rebecca Cheape, ( Angela McLuckie), Sian Meaney, Aimee Thomson, ( Robyn Graham), Robyn Knox, Lyndsay Hopper, Linzi Hunter,

(Kayleigh McCann), Amanda Tweedie (Capt), Nicole McPhee, Megan McLure, Susie Malloy, Shelby Kearney.
