Close Match Again
(September 28, 2008)
The Under-17 team were at home on Sunday when they faced the current league leaders Dunfermline. As usual the visitors were a big strong team and after 5 minutes they used their strength pouncing on a loose ball and putting it away 0-1!
Four minutes later and the home side were beaten again by a shot from the edge of the box 0-2!
Falkirk kepy pushing forward and Laura Glegg broke through only to see her shot sail over the cross-bar!
Dunfermline immediately broke forward and scored again from the edge of the box to make it 0-3! The visitors were now totally in control of the game and on the 28th minute the Falkirk keeper mis-timed the ball in from a corner and it was now0-4!
But Falkirk did not let their heads go down and Lisa Sutherland pushed forward and had a shot but it went over. Then Emma White played a great ball to Eva Rule who took it for a run and scored 1-4 giving the home side a lift just before half-time. On 38 minutes Shannen Lister also had a shot a goals but the Dunfermline keeper pulled off a save to make the score 1-4 at half-time.
The second half saw end-to-end stuff as both goalkeepers were kept very busy. But it wasn't until the 67th minute until the home side got another goal back thanks to a great goal from lauren Hastings 2-4!
Two minutes later and it was really game on as Laura Glegg broke through with the ball and neatly slotted the ball home to make it 3-4. The last 10 minutes of the game saw one-way traffic as Falkirk tried hard to get that equaliser. They had corner after corner, shot after shot but they could not score. In the end Falkirk keeper Kim Blythe had to pull off a last minute save to keep them in the match.
But after 80 minutes the game ended 3-4 to Dunfermline.
Coach Doc says that "we need to stop giving teams a start. The effort in the second half was brilliant and the team looked totally different. REally played well and I am proud of them"
