Saturday 20th September saw the Blues travel the short distance to Little Kerse to face Falkirk Academy, 10am kick off.
Grandad Roy Reports:
Game kicked off and the Blues flew straight into attack mode and immediately took control of game. In the opening minutes they constantly pressured the Academy and eventually broke down their defence in the 8th min a good long throw from Lyndsay Hopper saw Amanda control the ball and hit a first time shot super goal!! 0-1. In the 10th min lots of good play from Blues, great control from Nicole, who passed it to Amanda then 1st time onto Lyndsay who squared it to Shelby, good strike 0-2. 12th min Blues in total control some great passing between Amanda, Lyndsay and Kayleigh another super pass from Kayleigh to Linzi, Linzi’s well struck shot looked to be heading for the bottom corner but struck a defender and sneaked in at the near post! Own Goal 0-3. 14th min Blues were winning every ball, some really good football and passing – terrific. Another good pass from Kayleigh, to Amanda, onto Linzi who struck the ball on the turn Great Goal 0-4. Academy eventually broke into Blues half Angela was on hand and came out for the ball. However she collided with the forward and got an injury to head and had to come of, replaced by Rebecca Cheape. 29th min keeper saved well from Kayleigh, poor kick out from defence was well picked up by Megan, super goal .0-5.
Half Time: Falkirk Academy 0 v 5 Falkirk Blues
Straight from the Kick Off the Blues were back in attacking mode and on the 38th min Shelby easily dispossessed her defender of the ball and send a through ball to Nicole only one outcome Goal!! 0-6. Pace of game slowed down for a few minute and the Academy tried attacking the Blues goal but the defence was well marshalled by Sian(capt), Aimee, Robyn K and Lyndsay. They had very little to do and what they had to do was easily mopped up. The Midfield were winning the ball and passing with ease to the forwards. Amanda, Linzi, Kayleigh and always had the upper hand and their distribution of the ball was very good. Nicole, Megan, Susie, Shelby and Robyn G gave an excellent effort and chased everything giving the academy no time on the ball. 64th min Blues won a corner, another super corner by Amanda well controlled and calmly put away from Nicole 0-7. Academy on a rare attack towards the Blues goal their forward was tackled by Amiee and to the disbelief of everyone the referee awarded a penalty which was well converted 1-7. That inspired the girls or made them angry they started turning on the style with another exhibition of good football 64th min good play from Susie and Nicole good pass to Kayleigh good control good goal!! 1-8. 66th min, ball well won by Lyndsay super through ball to Shelby great goal 1-9.
Full Time: Falkirk Academy 1 v 9 Falkirk Blues
Credit must go to the Falkirk Academy Goalies who played really well and kept the score down to a minimum.
The Blues were superior in every department of the game. There is not many teams that will match their Fitness, Stamina or Commitment.
All the girls again are a credit to the Club their discipline on the park is second to none they accept decisions without question. This I put down to Coaches Shirley and Ashley.
Team: Angela McLuckie, (Rebecca Cheape), Sian Meaney (Capt), Aimee Thomson, ( Megan McLure), Robyn Knox, Lyndsay Hopper, Linzi Hunter, Kayleigh McCann, Amanda Tweedie, Nicole McPhee, (Robyn Graham), Susie Malloy, Shelby Carney.
