Falkirk Blue v Falkirk Red, Nailor Road, 1800 Kick Off
Grandad Roy reports:
Thursday the 4th of September saw the two Falkirk teams meet for the first time this season.
Straight from the kick off Amanda won the ball passed to Linzi Hunter who then slid the ball back to Amanda who then crossed into goalmouth Shelby on hand to slot the ball into net 0-1. Blues were looking as they were going to dominate the game with some good passing football but the reds were up to the task with some really good defensive play but then in the 7th min blues won a throw in Lindsay Hopper took a long throw in Nicole won the ball and passed to Kayleigh – great strike 0-2. Red team began stringing some good passes and attacked the blues goal, good defensive play from Sian, Aimee, Lyndsey and Robyn, then a break down the left by the Reds Louise Green tore into penalty box Goalkeeper brought her down and the referee rightly pointed to the spot. Kirsten stepped up to take it and while she struck the ball very well it was inches over the crossbar. 16th min good kick out from Sian picked up by Linzi Hunter some really good passing between the midfield saw the ball played out wide to Shelby who sent in a very good cross which was well met by Nicole 0-3. 19th min another good piece of football again resulted in a good cross from Linzi which was well met again by Nicole 0-4 Lots of good football being played from both teams the blues were getting most of the ball with Susie and Shelby chasing everything and their lay-offs were excellent at times. 23rd minute another super break terrific pass from Robyn to Lindsay then to Linzi to Susie to Shelby who found the bottom corner of the net - super goal 0-5. Againas last week Susie and Shelby ran and chased every ball tirelessly. Both teams again were playing some really good football. 27th min Reds attacked down left wing Sian went for ball referee signalled free kick against Blues. Louise Green stepped up to take the free kick which was excellently placed into the top corner a fantastic free kick. 1-5. Blues pressured red goals for a spell the Reds goalkeeper (Lorraine Snadden) pulled off some outstanding saves. 32nd min again some good passing from the blues Aimee to Nicole to Amanda to Susie to Kayleigh good strike 1-6. 35th min Defensive mistake by reds, Kayleigh picked up ball passed to Shelby good strike well parried by keeper but Susie was very quick to pounce and calmly slottedl into the corner of the net. 1-7.
Half Time: Falkirk Red 1 – 7 Falkirk Blue
Second half began with the blues winning a corner which came to nothing. 38th min again after a good combination of passing between numerous players Linzi crossed a super ball which was well met by Nicole 1-8. Lots of good play from both teams again both defenses coped well. Tempo of game slowed down a bit which was not surprising at the pace some of the girls were playing at! All of the players tonight covered every inch of the pitch, as did the Reds, showing their excellent fitness levels. The game came alive again in the 59th min a good cross from Nicole which was excellently controlled and layed off by Susie to Shelby who struck the ball high into the net 1-9. 64th min Sian played a super ball to Robyn who in turn played another good ball to Linzi who then threaded the ball through to Amanda who rounded the defender and fired shot into corner of goal 1-10. More good possession play between Nicole Lindsay and Kayleigh saw the ball slipped nicely through to Susie , there was only going to be one outcome – goal! 1-11.
