U-17s Win the West Cup

(June 19, 2008)
Falkirk U-17s showed a great display of courage as well as playing some great football in the West Cup at Murieston on Sunday 15th June which resulted in them lifting the trophy.

They started off by defeating the CSEW league winners, Musselburgh Windsor, 1 - 0 and then drew 1 - 1 with Kilmarnock and this was enough to send them through to the semi-final as group winners.

The semi-final against Celtic proved to be a tough game and with the final score 1 - 1, penalties were taken to decide who went through to the final. With 2 brilliant saves from Natalie it was Falkirk who won on penalties and faced Dunfermline in the final.

In the final all the girls were exhausted but they gave 110% and ended up winning 1 - 0 after the Dunfermline defender deflected the ball into her own goal after a great run and cross by Jenny.
After picking up an injury in the opening game Lauren decided to play on and she played a major part in Falkirk winning the cup. Her strength and determination in the middle of the park was outstanding especially since we now know she damaged ligaments.

Overall this was a great team performance and if they play with the same determination in Manchester then they will be very difficult to beat.
