Falkirk Ladies played their second last
league game of the season against Premier League bound Aberdeen. Falkirk,
having established themselves in the first division, and knowing they
are clear from relegation decided it was a chance to experiment with new
positions with nothing to really lose other than three points.
Falkirk started the game under pressure right from the
start, Aberdeen were pressing and made their way up to Falkirks by- line with
throw-in upon throw-in and Falkirk were unable to clear it properly to relieve
the pressure.
Although Falkirk were under constant pressure, it took 25
minutes for Aberdeen to score their first goal. And then only five minutes after
that to get their second. And not long before half time, they got their
third goal of the match.
Falkirk went back
into the game and tried to settle it quicker than in the first half. However, a
silly mistake from the Falkirk left back who missed the ball, and Aberdeen got
their fourth goal, only 1 minute from the re-start. Falkirk tried to re-gain their composure, and a managed a good few
stages of the second half to put pressure on the home team. 10 minutes
into the second half and Peebles replaced Zillicon as a spare player in
the midfield.
Peebles tried to help make good use of the positives in the game with good
link ups with Hunter and McDonald on the left hand side, however found herself
defending more than anything. Aberdeen then scored and further two goals.
Falkirk got a goal five minutes to go when Peebles played an intelligent pass
to Hunter which resulted in another intelligent pass in front of the Aberdeen
defense for McDonald to beat the right back with pace and run onto and slot past
the keeper.
Aberdeen got their last goal in the dieing minutes of the game. Not a great
scoreline, however, there is much for the Falkirk coach to work on.
