Seniors pick up three points
(April 11, 2004)
Falkirk had two of their Under 17's step up to strengthen
the senior squad. Paula Smith stepped into midfield in place of injured Shirley
Martin, she had no problems in the central midfield role and most of the play
went through her.
Falkirk had plenty of opportunities on goal this week, and
it didnt take long for them to score, 20 minutes gone and Paula Smith took a
brilliant free-kick and Audrey McGrory scored. Falkirk had chance upon chance to
increase their lead, however they weren't able to put them away.
The second half saw Falkirk piling on more pressure and
finally the second goal came from a scramble in the 18 yard box and Fiona Kane
put the ball past the keeper. Falkirk were looking to add onto that scoreline
and were caught on the break, Arthurlie were strong up the right wing and tried
to float the ball over keeper Fiona Melville, she got a touch on it however not
enough to keep it out of the net.
The last ten minutes had Falkirk worried as they wanted to
make certain they had the points they deserved, and they kept pushing on. Game
finished, Falkirk 2 - 1 Arthurlie
Team: Melville, Kirkwood, Zilliken, Bryce, Lafferty, Kane,
