Falkirk U17s Put 6 Past League Winners (May 04, 2008)
The U17s travelled to East Lothian today to play league winners Musselburgh Windsor in the league Cup. A draw or win would ensure Falkirk progressing to the semi-final - a defeat would mean a 3 way play off with Motherwell, Musselburgh and Falkirk.
Playing against the wind in the first half Falkirk's defence had to remain solid as Musselburgh had most of the possession and attacks. Within minutes Natalie was called into action to save from a corner and she held well. Falkirk's first chance came from Lisa who hit a long, high ball from the centre circle, which was held up in the wind and the keeper had to watch carefully before holding it. Musselburgh continued to pressure and their striker tried a near post shot which Natalie managed to get her hand to and push for a corner and Natalie confidently came out for it and held onto the ball.Falkirk continued to defend with Maxine, Sarah, Kerry and Jade clearing any danger and 5 mins before half time against the run of play Jenny opened the scoring after a quick throw in from Jade to Nicky who crossed a low ball into the box for Jenny to shoot. 0 - 1.
Musselburgh should have equalised minutes later when their player made a great run down the right and into the box but her shot went over the bar.
Laura had to come off injured and Kim went on at left back with Jade moving into midfield.
In the last minute a ball was played through for their striker, who was offside but play was allowed to continue and the low shot brought out a great save from Natalie to keep Falkirk in front at half time 0 - 1

With the wind behind them Falkirk pressured and after a throw in from Kim, Jade headed it on into the box where Jenny beat her defender and scored her second. 0 - 2
Falkirk were now starting to dominate the game and Lisa, who whose work rate was fantastic throught the whole game, won the ball and from well outside the box she unleashed a powerful strike which gave their keeper no chance. 0 - 3
Falkirk then won a free kick which Sarah took and put a great ball into the box where Jenny managed to get a foot to it and helped it towards goal where Sheryl made sure it went into the net. 0 - 4
Musselburgh were looking defeated by now and Falkirk were taking advantage aswell as fighting for everything. 25 mins into the second half Sheryl passed the ball onto Nicky who spotted Lisa free and cut the ball back for her to strike first time. 0 - 5
Continuing to work Lisa picked the ball up in midfield and played a ball over the top for Jenny to run onto and hit. Although the keeper got her hands to the ball she couldn't prevent it from crossing the line. 0 - 6
Another chance fell to Sheryl in the dying minutes after a pass from Jenny but she couldn't get enough power on it to trouble the keeper.

Final Score: Musselburgh 0 - 6 Falkirk
Scorers: Jenny(3), Lisa(2), Sheryl

Squad: Natalie, Kerry, Jade, Maxine, Sarah, Lauren, Lisa, Jenny, Laura,(Kim) Sheryl, Nicky,
