Reds Play Final League Game (April 26, 2008)
The Under-15 Red team played their final league game of the season at home today against Clyde Cumbernauld. With the bare minimum of 11 players the girls knew that they had a tough test ahead of them!
Clyde came strong at the girls from the start and within 5 minutes they scored as the ball took a wicked spin in front of goalkeeper Ellise as she was about to collect the ball and it spun past her into the goals. Falkirk kept their heads up and battled on trying to push forward and create chances. But the first half saw Clyde exploit their long-ball style of game pressuring the home defence and by half-time they were up 5-0!
At half-time Lauren Gibbon took unwell so the girls went back on with 10 players and in good spirits. The second half saw the team push alot harder against the visitors and now Kitsten and Natalie were finding space to run with the ball in midfield. Megan on the right was also getting past her player and falkirk were creating chances.
At the other end Laura & Ellise were keeping the ball out, with Ellise blocking every shot that Clyde had! Amy started the work forward from defence and although the girls only had 10 players they looked much stronger and more likely to score. But the Clyde keeper had a couple of important saves as she came out to dive at players feet and put off our attempts at goal.
The game ended 5-0 to Clyde Cumbernauld but the team had a great match and it is again great to see how tevery player has improved over the season.
The girls will now play a few friendly matches to keep them in shape.
