Falkirk Ladies v Forfar Farmington
(March 14, 2004)
Finally Falkirk playing on home turf,
at the Little Kerse Ground in Grangemouth.
Falkirk started the game off against Forfar with a lot of
confidence with McDonald making a fast run down the left wing and gaining a
corner within the first minute. A well worked corner with Yuill and a fast low
ball across the face of goal, Falkirk were unable to put the ball in
the back of the net so early in the game.
Incidently Falkirk were unable to take any of their chances,
and Forfar sneaked a goal in the first three minutes of the
game. Falkirk were trying to come back at Forfar and were unable to finish
any of their chances. It wasn't until the twenty-first minute that Falkirk found
the equaliser with McGrory crossing from the right wing and
with Hunter not knowing what was happening, the ball hitting off
her stomach and going into the back of the net.
Falkirk were pushing for another goal, and it was not from
lack of trying as much as being unlucky.
The second half came and Forfar scored three goals, and
Falkirk knew it was going to be tough to get back into it. However they kepy
pushing and fought hard, however nothing was going their way.
A substitution 20 minutes in, Smith on for McGrory. Smith
went on full of energy and ran until she got the ball, but as luck had it
nothing was going her way either. Falkirk stayed with it and a smart ball from
Smith put McDonald in on goal and she out ran the Forfar defence and scored
Falkirk's second goal.
There wasn't much time left after that and Falkirk just had
to try and keep the scoreline from rising. However, Forfar scored a fifth not
long from time.
Falkirk are still able to play nice football, however with
confidence at an all time low, nothing seems to be going their way.
