Falkirk Ladies FC are Quality (April 19, 2008)
On Wednesday 16th April 2008, Falkirk Ladies FC, became the third female club in Scotland to be awarded the SFA's Development Level Quality Mark. National Women's Team Coach, Anna Signeul, presented the award to Alison Mackie and Susan Renny at a ceremony at Motherwell FC.
The club had acheived the Standard level award in 2007 and since then everyone at the club has been working hard to implement the support and programmes to reach the next level and in February 2008 the award was given to the club but members of the committee only received the actual award this week.
The SFA's Quality Mark programme is a huge priority for all working in football in Scotland, with Development Officers working closely with hundreds of clubs and schools across the country in an attempt to help them to reach the criteria that is outlined in the various levels. To become a Development Level club Falkirk had to demonstrate a commitment to creating a player pathway and to the development of players through a number of age groups. The club had to have a minimum of four teams in four different age groups.
Alongside these broad aims Falkirk also had to meet strict levels of criteria in five main areas:
- Management
- Administration
- Player & Coach Development
- Planning
- Welfare
Various people throughout the club have worked hard over the last few years to ensure that Falkirk Ladies FC became the first female club within the Forth Valley area to achieve the Development Level award.
