Midweek Win for U-17s (April 18, 2008)
The U-17s hosted Musselburgh on a windy Thursday evening and were looking for revenge after being defeated 1 - 0 by them at the start of the season. With Lauren unavailable Kerry moved into midfield and Jade played right back.
Within 2 mins Falkirk won a corner which Nicky swung in beautifully for the wind to carry it right into goal. 1 - 0 and a brilliant start for Falkirk who continued to pile on the pressure. It was 15 mins into the game before Musselburgh had their first shot on goal which was saved comfortably by Natalie. A few mins later when Lisa noticed the keeper off her line she tried a long range effort which was assisted by the wind but just drifted wide. 30 mins into the first half after some good link up in the midfield Kerry passed to Lisa whose shot this time was on target and left the keeper no chance.
 2 - 0
Musselburgh tried to lift their game and their right midfielder received the ball in her own half and drove onto the bye line without anyone getting a tackle in. She managed to hit the ball over in front of goal where it was touched in. 2 - 1
Falkirk came close to stretching their lead again when Musselburgh failed to clear the ball from their box and chances fell to Sheryl and Laura but their shots were blocked and eventually the ball went for a corner which this time came to nothing.
On 40 mins Musselburgh should have levelled the score after another cross in from the right found their striker unmarked but as she hit the ball Natalie jumped in front of her making herself big and blocked the shot. Musselburgh's corner eventually came back out to the midfield who struck a high, long ball which was held up in the wind and came close to equalising. Just into injury time Jenny played a great ball through for Kerry to run onto but her shot was deflected by the oncoming keeper for a corner. Similarly to the opening corner Nicky swung it in, wind assisted, and it ended up in the back of the net stretching the lead again. 3 - 1
Then Kerry was sandwiched by 2 Musselburgh players after she made a great interception and had to be replaced by Megan.
With the home sideline waiting for the ref to blow for half time after 48 mins of play Musselburgh wasted no time in racing down the park and unleashing a powerful shot which was too high for Natalie to reach. 3 - 2 Moments later another powerful shot was struck but Natalie made a great save and managed to hold onto the ball. After 50 long mins the half time whistle went
3 - 2
With the wind against them Falkirk started the second half by defending a couple of corners which were well dealt with. Most of the play continued in the middle of the park and Falkirk continued to defend mainly but also try and catch out Musselburgh on the break. It was decided to strengthen the midfield and after 15 mins Kerry came back on to replace Laura who had been superb at holding the ball up until support arrived.
25 mins into the second half after a great move between Jenny and Sheryl the ball was passed through for Kerry, running into the box, but her powerful shot went over the bar. Maxine then played a long ball through for Sheryl who passed it over to Jenny then Nicky who tried a shot which just went over. Moments later after some great link up between Kerry, Sheryl and Nicky the ball was played across for Jenny who took a touch and as she was about to strike for goal the defender managed to get a foot in to prevent the shot.
Musselburgh had the next chance when their player was racing through on goal but Sarah sprinted across and prevented the shot. Moments later it was Kim who blocked another shot as Musselburgh pushed for the equaliser.
Nicky then found herself through on goal but her shot drifted wide and Sheryl also had a chance which went wide. Kerry then played a great ball through for Jenny whose shot the keeper just managed to get fingers to. The ball fell to Sheryl who played it onto Nicky whose shot went wide. After another half which lasted 50 mins and darkness falling the ref finally blew for full time.

Final Score: Falkirk 3 - 2 Musselburgh
Scorers: Nicky(2), Lisa

Squad: Natalie, Jade, Kim, Maxine, Sarah, Jenny, Kerry (Megan), Lisa, Nicky, Sheryl, Laura
Subs not used: Natasha, Lindsay

This was a superb result for the team who looked more lively, created more chances and looked as though they really wanted to win compared to Sunday's defeat against Whitburn.
