So Close The Scoreline Doesn't Reflect!!!

(March 07, 2004)

With Falkirk again being shunted from their original home ground, they had to make do with another stand in pitch situated in Cumbernauld. Falkirk had help in the form of former Cumbernauld Ladies Midfielder, Shelley Valle. She kindly stepped in to strengthen Falkirks midfield and there was also hope of lifting everyones spirits going into this game.

The game started much the same from Falkirk, a few sharp runs from McGrory, however nothing came of these. And for the first 32minutes the match was more or less equal other than the odd strong spell from Falkirk. However on the 33rd minute, Whitehill were allowed into the game and scored much to the astonishment of the Falkirk team. Falkirk kicked off and again Whitehill has broke through their defence and scored another goal, this time Falkirk defender Susan Ferguson left trying to clear and due to bad bounce, the ball trickled into the back of the net. Again Falkirk to kick off and same story, Whitehill found the back of the net once again. 3 goals in 3 minutes. Falkirks heads going down, understandably.

Second half went underway and Falkirk started off strong again. It wasn't long before Falkirk were given a free kick not far from 18 yard box and Martin swung in a great ball with McGrory towering above everyone else to bring a goal back for Falkirk. Falkirk 1 - Whitehill Welfare 3

Whitehill kicked off and before we all knew it, Falkirk had got by their defence and Hunter fired home. Falkirk 2 - Whitehill Welfare 3

Again Falkirk were looking for the equaliser and found it in Hunter.

Falkirk 3 - Whitehill Welfare 3

Falkirks heads were up again, and were taking the game to Whitehill, however Falkirk got caught out at the back and another silly mistake allowed Whitehill to score again.

Wasn't long before Whitehill again scored bringing it to Falkirk 3 - Whitehill Welfare 5. Falkirk on the attack and with the ball falling for Hunter 20 yards out, she swung and sailed the ball into the top right hand corner. Falkirk 4 - Whitehill Welfare 5.

Whitehill then went onto score two more and the game finished Falkirk 4 - Whitehill Welfare 7.

Next sunday Falkirk will face Forfar Farmington at home Little Kerse in Grangemouth.
