U-17s win First Competitive Game of 2008
(February 10, 2008)
The U-17s travelled to Edinburgh to play Hutchie Vale today and within 5 minutes went 1-0 up after a great corner from Nicky which the Hutchie defence failed to clear and Lauren was well positioned to deftly hit the opener. Hutchie then had a great opportunity to level the scoring when their striker was through but Maxine managed to get back and put in a tackle. After 20 mins Sarah put a high ball over for Nicky who controlled it and shot which brought out a good save from the keeper and went for a corner. Sheryl was causing problems with her pace and determination up front and in 30mins the defender brought her down unfairly in the box and a penalty was awarded. Nicky took it and placed it low to the keeper's right. 0 - 2
A few mins later after winning another corner Jen crossed in a great ball and Maxine headed it home 0 - 3 Half time.
In the second half Jenny was unlucky when her free kick hit the bar but Sheryl made it 0 - 4 when her strike hit the back of the net.
Falkirk created a few more chances before the final whistle but couldn't score. The girls all played well and had most of the possession with Lisa controlling the midfield but they have to try and score more from the chances they create or they will be punished by better teams.
