The U13 team travelled the short distance along to Cumbernauld for the second game away to Clyde Cumbernauld of the season. After weeks of no fixture, except from the abandoned game against Strathclyde GFC the girls were keen to get back into action. When the teams met earlier in the season the Cumbernauld side took all three points with a 3-1 victory.
Falkirk had a full squad with new signing Shalana McConnon and trialist Rhiannon Walsh joining the team for the game.
The early stages of the game were evenly contested until an excellent corner was delivered by tricky winger Rachael Donaldson. The Cumbernauld defence failed to clear the ball and leading goal scorer Kayleigh McCann netted in 15 minutes from a goaling scramble. Cumbernauld had a few opportunities in the first half however Captain Aimee Thomson and Cori Cairns dealt with any threat very comfortably. The game was tied up 2 minutes before half time as Kayleigh McCann struck a long range short which the goal keeper dropped , Nicole McPhee followed up and tapped in the rebound.
1/2 time -Clyde Cumbernauld 0-2 Falkirk
The second half saw new signing Shalana McConnen replace Louise Green upfront after 10 minutes. Within 2 minutes of McConnon entering play her first touch ended up in the back of Clyde net opening her scoring count and confirmed that there was no way back for Clyde Cumbernauld. Clyde Cumbernauld 0-3 Falkirk.
Falkirk created a few other chances in the game and Falkirk goal keeper Shelby Kearner also pulled off a great save in the final minutes of the game. Falkirk played some great attacking football and the girls slick passing carved open the Clyde defence. A great victory for the girls and an exciting but enjoyable game for all on the sidelines to watch.
