Lanarkshire Too Strong For Falkirk (September 08, 2007)
Falkirk Girls Red travelled to Auchenheath to face triple title winners from last season Lanarkshire United earlier today. Up against it from the start the Falkirk team had travelled with only 10 fit players due to injury, illness and holidays. But the girls wanted to play and played hard up against a very good team that boasted 2 International players and 6 Regional Squads players.
Lanarkshire's strengths were in their midfield and forward lines and it showed as they piled forward on wave after wave of attack. Falkirk goalkeeper Ellise Mitchell was again outstanding and she stood up to (and saved) many of the shots that were fired in at her. But the depth of experience and strength that Lanarkshire had allowed them to start putting away the goals and the match ended 16-0 to the home side.
Alot of positives can be taken from this game as each player worked for the full 70 minutes and never let their heads go down. Once again Ellise was outstanding and the girls continue to improve with every match they play this season.
